Jamshedpur: A delegation of Busti Vikas Samiti members met the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum, Amit Kumar, on Thursday and sought administration measures to prevent epidemic spread of dengue and other vector-borne diseases in the city.
The outfit president Khemlal Choudhary said the health situation in the city had become alarming after 54 patients of dengue were identified across the city. He said lack of cleanliness in over 100 slums of the city was a cause of concern since it could lead to epidemic breakout of dengue, malaria, chikungunya and Japanese Encephalitis among other deadly diseases.
Also present on the occasion was the MP of Jamshedpur, Bidyut Baran Mahato, who assured the outfit members of all possible help in containing the epidemic menace. The outfit members said the MP should instruct the district officials concerned to take urgent measures against dengue and other diseases.
The outfit members handed a memorandum to the DC during the meeting. Among those present on the occasion included Gurudev Singh Raja, Mithilesh Singh Yadav, Bhupendra Singh, Boltu Sarkar, Kulwant Singh Bunty, Ajay Singh, Bhanu Pratap Singh and Dinesh Singh.
