Bustees to get water, Saryu Roy calls off Jal Satyagraha

Jamshedpur: Former Jamshedpur West MLA and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Saryu Roy today announced to withdraw his call for Jal Satyagraha and said that Jusco had agreed to provide drinking water to various localities in the city.

Speaking to scribes on Saturday, Roy said the agitation plan was called off following a directive issued by the state government regarding supply of drinking water to various parts of the city including Mango and Jugsalai.

Water connection will be given on the basis of Ranchi Municipal Corporation rules. It will no more be necessary for the applicants to produce documents of land and house in order to get water connection, said the former legislator.

Roy further added, Water connection will be given on the basis of Aadhar card, electricity connection documents, telephone bill, gas connection documents, voters identity card, PAN card, bank or post office passbook, driving licence or ration card, he said.

The BJP leader said the state government had fixed rate for drinking water connection. The cost of connection cannot exceed the rate fixed by the government, he said.

Roy said he had written to the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Dr Amitabh Kaushal and demanded implementation of the sewerage drainage plan for the city including Mango.

I had taken the initiative in this regard during my tenure as the MLA. An advisor had been appointed for this purpose then. The advisor had prepared the plan prototype. But the plan could not be implemented in the last five years. It is my priority to implement this project. It is necessary that the basic civic amenities in the city improve in the field of health, education, sewage drainage and sanitation.

The BJP leader said a campaign titled Better Jamshedpur, Greater Jamshedpur will be launched from 1st June onwards. The law and order situation in the city had gone down. Incidence of theft has gone up in the city. It seems criminals are no more afraid of the law. There is need to control the situation or else public outrage will take its own course, he said.

Roy said a booth level of party activists had been convened on 22nd June at Aam Bagan, Sakchi, to discuss various problems of Jamshedpur West Assembly constituency and find out their solution.
