Burnwal orders immediate replacement of dysfunctional transformers

Ranchi, Jan. 19: According to complaints lodged with the Jan Samvad Kendra, nearly 600 transformers are lying dysfunctional in different areas of Jharkhand.

During the review of the complaints, secretary to the CM, Sunil Kr. Burnwal said that the transformers must be repaired and replaced immediately.

However, when Burnwal asked the department officers why this has not been done even in three months from the date of complaints, they said that transformers are not available in the central store. Hearing this, Burnwal was furious and directed the officials to replace the defunct transformers as early as possible.

Burnwal directed the additional secretary to send separate letters in this regard to Energy Department secretary, and JBVNL managing director. He said that decisions regarding purchase of new transformers may be taken by the CM in a meeting called exclusively for this purpose.

The secretary directed to issue a show cause notice second time to the Social Welfare Department for the absence of nodal officers at the meeting.

Regarding rape and killing of a juvenile at Salve village in Latehar on November 21 last year, Burnwal directed the authorities to arrest the accused as soon as possible. He said that an accused of rape and murder must not be spared in any case.

He also looked stern on the inability of the police in arresting Naxlite Jeetan Guria and his 12 aides in connection with the abduction and killing of Shiv Shankar Nag of Jaria village on October 8 last year. The Secretary threatened to take action against dormant officers, saying it is the responsibility of the police to arrest the accused applying various techniques and measures.

Apart from it, a lot of other complaints including non-payment to MGNAREGA workers, arrest of a murder accused in Daltonganj, illegal occupancy of a community hall at Silli, false report by CO of Koderma, non-payment of old age pension, and non- payment of gratuity, PF EL to the dependents of late Dhavithri Roy, the headmistress of Bhawani Nagar Middle School etc. were discussed at large.
