Jamshedpur, April 29: The scourge of theft continues to plague Jamshedpur and its environs, with yet another brazen incident occurring on Sunday night. Thieves targeted the government English liquor shop near Mango Chowk in the Mango police station area, orchestrating a daring heist.
Under the cloak of darkness, the culprits gained illicit entry by cutting through the false ceiling of the roof. Once inside, they made off with both cash and liquor bottles, leaving the shop owner reeling from the loss. The theft came to light on Monday morning when the shop owner discovered the breach upon opening for business.
Narrating the ordeal, the shop owner revealed that he had closed shop at the usual time on Sunday night before retiring home. However, upon returning the next morning, he was met with the unsettling sight of the compromised ceiling and the conspicuous absence of the cash box. Preliminary estimates suggest that cash and liquor worth lakhs have been pilfered.
The Mango police station in-charge has been duly notified, prompting an immediate investigation into the matter.
