Burglars decamp with cash and gold ornaments worth over Rs 4.5 lakh in Jamshedpur

Thieves target quarter in front of CM�s residence

Jamshedpur : In a shocking incident of theft burglars decamped with cash and gold ornaments worth over Rs 4.5 lakh from a quarter on Agrico Main Road under Sidhgora police station area around midnight. The incident took place in front of the Chief Minister Raghubar Das’s office-cum-residence.

Alok Sinha is a retired Tata Steel employee and had gone along with wife to participate in a party at his friend’s house in Vijaya Heritage in Kadma on Sunday. On returning back home at about 12.15 am today, he found the almirah was lying open and cash and gold ornament gone.


According to information, the burglars entered into Sinha’s residence from backside.A police team led by Sidhgorapolice station officer-in-charge, Ashok Kumar had been to the spot after getting a complaint from the victim. The OC, Kumar confirmed about the burglary at quarter No 53 on Agrico Main Road in the night.

“We are investigating the incident. Though cash and gold ornament worth over Rs 4.5 lakh have been stolen from Sinha’s house, but we are yet to find out exactly how did the criminals enter into the house without breaking the lock,” Kumar said.

The burglars opened the shutters’ lock that the victim had installed in the back verandah for preventing any theft or burglary. The victim has been staying there since the past 15 years.

“We are still shocked. When I and my wife Neelima were going away we had found a youth moving suspiciously in front of our residence. The youth was talking over cellphone and I had looked at him he had entered into an adjoining lane and finally when we returned home, we discovered the burglary,” said Sinha.
