Jamshedpur : Burglars decamped with cash and ornament worth Rs 2.5 lakhs at Subhash Colony in the Olidih police station area of Mango. The victims suspect that the thieves had sprayed intoxicated drugs, after entering the house that put them to deep sleep. Sudhir Bajpai (38), a trader has lodged a FIR in this regard.
According to Sudhir Bajpai, who pickles made from his house in the market, all the family members had gone to sleep in two separate rooms.
� We are in state of shock and don�t known what happened. My wife woke up first in the morning and felt drowsy. She was shocked to see that the gates of the front door were open and even the almirah was opened. After she screamed she found cash of Rs 20,000, two mobiles, three gold chains, other ornament worth over Rs 2 lakh missing,� noted Bjapai.
On receiving the complaint, officer in charge of Ulidih police station sub-inspector Sanjiv Kumar Mishra rushed to the spot and inspected the house. He said that the police was investigating the incident.
“It is very surprising that the thieves had opened the lock of the front door instead of breaking it and entered the house and committed their act. It seems they were well aware of the exact place where the key of the lock was kept and had opened the door without much difficulty. We are investigating into the case and no arrest has been made so far,” said Sanjiv Kumar.
The officer-in-charge claimed that the night patrolling is carried out regularly on the streets, but they failed to take notice of this burglary.
A series of burglaries in the city during past few months has prompted the police to take some immediate measures to curb the menace. Thefts not only in residential areas but also in commercial establishments have been reported as a major section of the police force was away on election duty for the last few weeks.
The police administration has decided to increase night patrolling in the city, especially in Mango and Sakchi localities of the city.
