Jamshedpur. A gang of burglars decamp with gold and silver jewellery worth over Rs 1 lakh from a jewellery shop in the Kharangajhar market. The gang also targeted another jewellery shop and a grocery shop at the same marketplace in the wee hours of Friday.
The jewellery shops which have been burgled were identified as Vinod Jewelleries and AK Jewelleries, and the grocery shop belonging to Om Prakash Gupta.
In this connection, separate FIRs were lodged by Viond Kumar Sony and Ashwini Kumar who are the owners of Vinod Jewellers and AK Jewellers respectively, and by Om Prakash Gupta with the Telco police station. Instead of breaking the locks, the burglars had uprooted shutters for entering into the shops for committing the theft.
Officer-in-charge, Telco police station, Kamleshwar Pandey said they are investigating the incident. Two squads of sniffer dogs were pressed in, but could not make any progress in the detection.
“We had pressed a sniffer dog from the Tata Motors Ltd and another from the Golmuri police lines. In both the cases, the sniffer dogs failed to provide any clue,� he noted. The officer-in-charge said that they would intensify night patrolling at the market from today.
