Jamshedpur, October 9: As a move to enable public sector enterprise give 4G mobile services to customers, about 400 new 4G towers will be set up in East Singhbhum.
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will put up four hundred 4G towers within the next four to five months in East Singhbhum district. The state owned telecom operator has plans to erect one thousand 4G towers in whole of Jharkhand, said KK Thakur, chief general manager, BSNL.
He informed that BSNL is supporting Jio towards its 4G services while the BSNL customer base is increasing. People who want to provide their terrace or land for installation of a tower can contact the BSNL office for further details. KK Thakur further said that BSNL has plans to upgrade 101 BTS in Jamshedpur to provide better 2G and 3G services to customers.
The BTS are installed at Adityapur, Gamharia, Kandra and on NH-33. ‘To end call drop issue 30 new Mobile BTS will be set up at Sakchi, Sonari, Adityapur, Mango, Telco and Kadma’, added CGM Thakur. He went on to say that a blood donation camp was also organised by BSNL at IMA Bhawan in Sakchi last week under BSNL week were 80 workers and officers of BSNL donated blood. The camp was inaugurated by chief guest KK Thakur, CGM, BSNL.
VM Kanth gave the welcome address were BSNL GM Sanjeev Verma, Basant Barjo, VK Sinha, SN Prasad, Dr. Mritunjay Kumar and others were present. Significantly, union communication and information technology minister Ravi Shankar Prasad during his visit to Jamshedpur during �Vikas Parv� function organized to mark the completion of two years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi�s government in June 2016 had announced that the State-run BSNL will set up 250 Wifi hotspots in Jharkhand of which 60 each Wi-Fi hotspots will come up in Jamshedpur and Ranchi.
He had also apprised that in order to improve its telecom service, the BSNL would be setting up 185 2G towers and 185 3G towers in the State while 50 such towers will come up in Jamshedpur and its surrounding areas.
