Brothers jailed for murder of youth in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: The veil of mystery surrounding the murder of Ashu Kevat (22) has been lifted as the police make significant strides in the investigation. The victim was fatally stabbed in Gadda of Parsudih police station area, prompting an intensive search for the assailants. The suspects, identified as Suraj Jaiswal alias Suraj Kumar and his brother Shubham Jaiswal alias Shubham Kumar, both residents of Bihari Tola near Vikas Bhawan, have been arrested by the police. The motive behind the murder revolves around a dispute concerning the alteration of electricity lines, which escalated into a fatal confrontation on the night of October 30 around 11:45 pm.

The incident unfolded when Suraj Jaiswal encountered Ashu and his associates in the act of tampering with the electric wire’s phase near Vikas Bhawan. An altercation ensued, leading to Suraj Jaiswal threatening consequences if their electrical line was disrupted. The confrontation turned violent when Shubham Jaiswal arrived at the scene with a knife, attacking Ashu Kevat and Bhola Purti alias Nathdu. Both victims sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Khasmahal Sadar Hospital and later referred to TMH for advanced medical attention.

Despite the efforts to save him, Ashu Kevat succumbed to his injuries after being referred to RIMS for further treatment. The suspects, with no prior criminal history, fled the scene after the attack. The police, led by Parsudih police station in-charge Ram Kumar Verma, swiftly launched a search operation, resulting in the apprehension of Suraj Jaiswal and Shubham Jaiswal. The police raiding team included sub-inspectors Ravindra Kumar Singh and Arun Kumar Mahato, Havildar Rajkumar Singh, and officers Sanjay Ram and Ramai Sundi.

The tragic incident sheds light on the repercussions of disputes, underscoring the need for peaceful resolution to prevent such devastating outcomes. The police are committed to a thorough investigation to ensure justice for the victims and hold the perpetrators accountable for their actions.
