
Jamshedpur, Aug 3: A project on mother and
child care was organised by the Rotary club of Jamshedpur West on Friday. The
programme included an awareness talk on breastfeeding and how it is beneficial
for the mother and the child. August 1 to 7 marks world breastfeeding week.
Talk on breastfeeding awareness was organised for the ladies in Dhatkidih
Community Centre.
Dr Anju Bajoria, city’s famous gynecologist addressed the ladies on the
benefits of breastfeeding, how to take care of the new born and the vaccinations
to be given timely.
‘Breast milk contains nutrients that are vital for the infant in the first few months and hence breastfeeding is very crucial in the initial six months, which should also accompany regular food up to two years’, Dr. Bajoria informed.
She explained in detail about postpartum period and how to take care of the child. It was over all an interesting & interactive session. All the queries of the ladies were also addressed by her. About 60 ladies benefitted from the awareness session. President of Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West Shweta Chand thanked Dr Anju Bajoria for taking out her valuable time. Secretary of the club Nibha Mishra delivered vote of thanks to all present. Maya Sahay, Anu Sehgal, Payal, Shraddha and other club members were present.
