Breastfeed babies exclusively for six months: Dr. Priya

Jamshedpur, Aug 3: Inner Wheel Club of Jamshedpur East with the support of Tata Motors Hospital organised awareness session on breastfeeding as part of the World Breast Feeding Week at Jivan Jyoti School of Nursing in Telco on Friday. Members of Inner Wheel Club of Jamshedpur East Dr. Neelam who is also associated with Tata Motors Hospital help conduct the programme. Total of 75 nursing students of the school were present during the session. Dr. Priya Amitabh, Chief Pediatrician, Tata Motors Hospital was the chief speaker.

Addressing the gathering Dr. Priya Amitabh, said, breastfeeding is recommended as a key measure to ensure the health of mothers and children. “Early initiation of breastfeeding within an hour of the child�s birth is mandatory and exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months after the birth of the newborn keeps diseases at bay”, Dr. Amitabh added.

President of the Club Rama Khanna informed that new mothers should consume nutritious food as a healthy mother can only take care of the child. Also present were Ira, Nilima, Dr. Meena, Sanchita and others.
