Breakthrough innovation, technology and agility to drive Tata Steel�s future: TV Narendran

Jamshedpur: Tata Steel celebrated the New Year 2020 with a get-together and cake cutting across all its areas of operations. At Jamshedpur, the get-together was organised at Works General Office Upper Lawn, where senior and retired executives of Tata Steel, all Vice Presidents, heads of Tata Steel group companies and Tata Workers` Union (TWU) office bearers wished each other.

Addressing the gathering, T. V. Narendran, CEO&MD, Tata Steel, said, �We have over the last few years worked on making ourselves structurally stronger by taking many tough calls, driving operational efficiencies across our sites, building new business and developing new products and markets and growing the India business organically and inorganically. We are in a tough industry that periodically goes through these down cycles. Our objective is to never waste a down cycle and use it to build an even brighter future.�

�We need to demonstrate breakthrough innovation, technology and bring in more agility in our work to be seen as the most admired company in the world. In order to be future-ready, we need to strengthen our culture of ethics, safety and continuous improvement to deal with the competition outside and look forward imbibing agility. Even as we make ourselves structurally & culturally future ready, we want to make ourselves financially future ready as well,� he added.

Knowledge Management 4.0, which is a new platform for ensuring effective organization-wide learning, was also launched on the occasion.

Sudhansu Pathak, Vice President (Steel Manufacturing) anchored the programme and highlighted the achievements of Tata Steel in the last 9 months of FY`20. Dr J J Irani, Former Managing Director of Tata Steel talked about promoting the culture of happiness in the organization. R Ravi Prasad, President TWU, highlighted the achievements of TWU. Vote of thanks was delivered by Avneesh Gupta, Vice President (Shared Services and TQM). In yet another cake cutting function at JRD Sports Complex and Centre for Excellence, Narendran reiterated the challenges and opportunities before Tata Steel.
