Diet and Yoga play key role in Cancer recovery: Experts
Jamshedpur: On the occasion of World Cancer Day 2025, Brahmanand Narayana Hospital, Tamolia, the only hospital in Jamshedpur run by Narayana Health, Bangalore, organized a Cancer Survivor Meet to inspire and encourage patients battling cancer. The event aimed to motivate patients and highlight the significance of a positive mindset, a balanced diet, and holistic healing practices like yoga and pranayama in cancer recovery.
The program was inaugurated with the traditional lighting of the lamp by Facility Director A. Dharma Rao, Cancer Specialist Dr. Amit Kumar, Senior Cancer Surgeon Dr. Ashish Kumar, and Medical Superintendent Dr. Mukesh Kumar. The event served as a platform for cancer survivors to share their personal experiences and inspire others fighting the disease.
Prominent cancer survivors, including Ritu Rungta (Certified Yoga Trainer and Social Reformer), Mukul Khandelwal, Sunita Tiwari, Swarnlata Mishra, Bittu Tiwari, and Reena Sahu, shared their stories of struggle and triumph. They emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive attitude, healthy lifestyle, and the role of yoga and pranayama in managing and overcoming cancer.
Dietician Priya Dwivedi highlighted the crucial role of nutrition in preventing and fighting cancer. She explained that a well-balanced diet strengthens immunity and aids in the recovery process.
Discussing this year’s World Cancer Day theme – “United by Unique”, Dr. Amit Kumar stressed the importance of patient-centric care and a holistic approach to cancer treatment. He emphasized that early detection, a proactive attitude, and lifestyle modifications could significantly improve recovery outcomes.
Senior Cancer Surgeon Dr. Ashish Kumar reinforced that cancer can be completely cured if detected in its early stages. He encouraged regular screenings and immediate medical consultation if symptoms appear.
Facility Director A. Dharma Rao highlighted the importance of awareness in cancer prevention and reiterated the hospital’s commitment to educating the public about cancer through screening camps and awareness programs. He emphasized that Brahmanand Narayana Hospital, Tamolia, consistently works towards spreading awareness through health discussions, lifestyle counseling, and cancer screenings.
