Jamshedpur, March 21: Demanding admission of children from BPL families in private schools as per provisions of the RTE Act and the orders of Supreme Court, Jharkhand High Court and Jharkhand government, parents, children led by Jamshedpur Abhibhavak Sangh’s Dr. Umesh Kumar protested before the DC office on Wednesday.

Dr. Umesh Kumar, president of Jamshedpur Abhibhavak Sangh, on Wednesday alleged that management of Narbheram Hansraj English School (NHES), Bistupur refused to take admission of 18 BPL children despite letter being sent to the school management by District superintendent of education.

‘The application was first submitted at District superintendent of education (DSE) two months back and were later sent by the department to the schools but the NHES management refused to take admission without giving proper reason and are harassing the parents’, informed Dr. Kumar.

Dr. Umesh Kumar further said that the district administration and the education department should take action against the school management who are not considering the courts orders and thereby depriving the BPL kids to get admitted to the schools.

It may be noted that on Tuesday a delegation of Jamshedpur Abhibhavak Sangh led by Dr. Umesh Kumar staged a one-day protest in the NHES premises against the management’s attitude of depriving the BPL children to get admitted to the schools.

According to RTE, 25% seats have to be reserved for the children belonging to BPL and the deprived section for the society. The Supreme Court, Jharkhand High Court and Jharkhand government have also ordered for the same.
