Body of ten-year-old boy recovered from Jayanti Sarovar

Jamshedpur : The body of 10-year-old boy, who fell into a manhole and hot carried away by gushing rain water near the Jubilee Park last evening, was recovered at Jayanti Sarovar Jubilee Park. The tragedy took place when the family members were preparing to celebrate the child’s 10th birthday. The victim used to live in an out-house of the Jubilee Officer’s Enclave along with his grandparents.

A team of Jusco’s health department workers engaged in the search drive fished the boy’s body from the lake today. Soon after the workers rescued the body and handed it to the aggrieved family members who were following the operation.

However, in protest against the death of the child, the relatives of the victim staged a blockade on the Jubilee Road demanding compensation from the Jusco. The protestors were demanding Rs 5 lakh as compensation and a job for the father of the boy in Jusco.

About 200 people staged the blockade on the Jubilee Road adjoining the Jubilee Officers’ Enclave, a colony of Tata Steel officers, where the mishap had taken place last evening.

The protestors had declared that they would not allowed the police to seize the body unless the compensation issue was not settled.

Traffic movement was affected due to the block. The BJP leaders Saryu Roy and Dinesanand Goswami also arrived at the blockade spot and spoke to the protestors.

With the initiative of the BJP leaders and the police, the protestors lifted the road blockade, but moved to the Jusco office in Bistupur, where they staged a dharna, demanding the compensation.

The dharna at the Jusco office was continuing till this this report was being compiled.
