Jamshedpur : The body of 14-year-old boy Kundan Prasad who was drowned at Baroda Ghat in Kharkai was recovered from Shastirnagar Block No- 5 under Kadma police station area on Sunday morning.
After hours of anxious wait the body emerged on the river after which local residents, who had been to the river-bank for taking bath informed the Kadma police.The police with the help of two divers recovered the body. The police, however, recovered the body and sent it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem.
Officer-in-charge, Bagbera police station, Shailendra Kumar who had also reached at the spot and inspected the body. After the initial check- up, the police concluded that it was a case of drowning only.
Kumar noted that water level at the Kharkai river was high, and it was quite possible that the body had been hit against the rock on the river-bed, leaving the marks of injuries in the victim’s body. He, however, said that they sent the body to the MGM Medical College mortuary for a post-mortem.
After the post-mortem was over, the body of the drowning victim was cremated at the Shiv Ghaat in Jugsalai this afternoon.Notably, Kundan a class IX student of Indira Vidya Jyoti High School, Bagbera had alongwith four other students of the same school had bunked his class and was drowned while taking bath at Baroda Ghat in Kharkai river on Saturday.. After the incident, the local administration had pressed divers to locate the body, but despite frantic efforts the body could not be located yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Bagbera Mahanagar Vikas Samity (BMVS), a social body has demanded the administration to take necessary measures so as to ensure safety measures at the banks of river.
