Jamshedpur, May 31: In a chilling and heartbreaking incident, the bodies of two lovers were found hanging from a tree in the serene town of Bodam in Patamda about 30 km away from here on Wednesday morning. The shocking discovery has left the local community in a state of shock and mourning.
The bodies were identified as that of Chinta Singh Sardar (23) and Kuni Birua (18), both residents of Kutimakuli village in Bota panchayat.
As the news spread, a police party rushed to the spot and brought them down with the help of the local residents and got them identified immediately.
Sub-inspector Dilip Majhi of Bodam said that the deceased were reportedly lovers, but it is yet to be established whether this is a case of suicides or murder.

“The investigation is on. We have shifted the bodies to MGM medical college mortuary for postmortem and are also talking to the members of the bereaved families to get the background information so that the reason behind the twin deaths could be known,” said the sub-inspector.
Preliminary findings indicate that the cause of death was consistent with hanging, suggesting the possibility of a double suicide. However, the exact motivations behind this heartbreaking act remain unclear at this time.
The love affair between the two was going on for the last several years and both wanted to get married, perhaps their relatives were not ready for the marriage, so they must have thought that if they do not unite while alive, then they can die together. Both of them belonged to Balig and tribal society but the caste was different.
The girl belonged to the Ho community while the boy belonged to the Bhumij community. After getting information about the incident, former Bodam district councilor Swapan Kumar Mahato, social workers Chaitan Murmu and Umesh Mahato, along with others, helped in the post-mortem of the dead bodies at the MGM Medical College. At present the police are probing the matter and whether the incident is murder or suicide is also being probed at that point. Till now the police have not received any suicide note from the spot. After the incident, sensation has spread in the area and people are discussing it in different ways.
The families and friends of the deceased are devastated by the loss, and the community at large is grappling with the shock and sadness that this incident has brought upon them. Local authorities are offering support and counseling services to those affected by this tragic event, recognizing the need for emotional assistance during such a difficult time.
