Ranchi/Dumka: Denying police the last sigh of relief, Naxalites turned the conclusion of the last round of Parliamentary elections in the state gory by killing eight members of a polling party on their return trip from the polling booth by triggering an improvised explosion in Dumka Thursday evening.
At least eight people were killed when a vehicle carrying poll personnel was blown up by suspected Maoists near Asna village in Dumka district on Thursday.
Superintendent of Police Nirmal Kumar Mishra said at least five persons were injured in the incident and more details were awaited.
The attack took place near Asna village under Shikaripara police station.
Areas of Dumka and Dhanbad in Jharkhand have suffered from Maoist attacks and 45,000 personnel have been deployed for poll security here.
