BJP workers allegedly blackmailing PDS shopkeepers

Jamshedpur, June 20: BJP workers, who have been included in monitoring committee for the smooth functioning of PDS shops, are allegedly blackmailing the shopkeepers on the pretext of monitoring. �

At a meeting of the PDS shopkeepers, several shopkeepers said that the state government wanted transparency and the proper functioning of the PDS system. The monitoring committee has been formed, but the BJP workers are blackmailing shopkeepers.

According to the shopkeepers, these BJP members arrive to take the stock of register. They claim to receive complaints on Facebook. In such a situation, it has been difficult to run ration shops. If the BJP workers do not refrain from such activities, the ration shop owners will be forced to surrender their licenses. They have also submitted a memorandum to the supply officer in this regard.

On April 7, the state government formed a vigilance committee comprising the local BJP workers. One of the members, Deepak Srivastava has been behaving like conducting raids. The shopkeepers said that they are working as per the guidelines of the department, but the party workers are not allowing them to work properly. �

Vendors from Mango, Jugsalai, Parsudih, Kitadih, Barigodha, and Sarjmda signed the memorandum submitted to the supply officer.

Ashok Behera, Arun Kumar Tiwari, Vijay Singh, Kirod Gope, Ranikumari Majhi, Anil Kumar Chowdhary, Sadanand Singh, Sulochana Devi, T. Singh, Kedar Sharma, Radhe Shyam Singh, Ramji Prasad, Chunka Mardi, Dinesh Prasad Singh, and Umrao Singh were present at the meeting.
