Ranchi / Davos: Jharkhand made a confident and consequential start to the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, launching a series of high-level engagements that firmly placed the State within global economic, policy, and investment conversations.
Led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the State delegation commenced its participation with focused interactions aimed at forging long-term international partnerships and opening new pathways for sustainable investment.
Day One engagements were anchored around the India Pavilion and the Jharkhand Lounge, which emerged as vibrant hubs for dialogue with senior leadership from global corporations, international business councils, and institutional stakeholders.
These interactions reflected Jharkhand’s strategic intent to expand collaboration across advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, infrastructure, sustainability, and institutional capacity-building.
Among the key engagements were discussions with Tata Steel leadership, reaffirming Jharkhand’s historic role in India’s industrial journey while highlighting its transition toward advanced, technology-driven, and sustainable manufacturing.
Conversations with Hitachi India centred on opportunities in infrastructure development, energy systems, and next-generation technological solutions, while meetings with Tech Mahindra focused on digital transformation, innovation ecosystems, and the development of future-ready skills.
The delegation also held interactions with representatives from Bloomberg APAC, the Sweden India Business Council, and the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), exploring avenues for global market integration, investment facilitation and cross-border collaboration.
Engagements with senior officials of the World Economic Forum further underscored Jharkhand’s commitment to contributing meaningfully to global platforms that shape long-term economic and policy discourse.
An interaction with the Women Political Leaders network highlighted the State’s emphasis on inclusive leadership and gender-responsive governance as central pillars of equitable and sustainable economic growth.
In addition, visits to global technology pavilions on the opening day provided valuable exposure to cutting-edge innovations and future-facing solutions, reinforcing Jharkhand’s efforts to align industrial growth with sustainability and technological advancement.
As Jharkhand marks 25 years of statehood and charts its vision toward 2050, its opening-day engagements at WEF 2026 signal a decisive shift—from regional presence to proactive global participation.
Through these early interactions, the state has set a clear and confident tone for the days ahead, focused on building enduring partnerships, attracting responsible investment, and positioning Jharkhand as a future-ready, globally connected economy.
