Jamshedpur: District BJP activists led by former MLA Saryu Roy today staged demonstration before the offices of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee, Mango Notified Area Committee and Jugsalai Municipality to demand cleaning of various Chhath ghats across the city.
The outfit leaders alleged that the district authorities concerned were delaying fulfillment of their demands for a long time. They said the Chhath ghats should be kept free from garbage and encroachment. They said each and every nook and corner of the district should be cleaned.
They said bleaching powder should be sprinkled at riverbanks to prevent mosquito breeding. Lights and dustbins should be installed on roadsides to illuminate the river ghats, they said.
Among those present during the agitation included district BJP president Nandjee Prasad, Sanjeev Mukherjee, Pramod Sharma, Bhola Pandey, Suraj Narayan and Chhotu Pundit.
