BJP skips MLAs meeting ahead of Jharkhand Assembly budget session

Ranchi, February 21: Meeting of legislative party-representatives in the assembly was held on Friday in the presence of chief minister Hemant Soren before the forthcoming budget session.

Sixth session of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly and the second (budget) session of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly will run from 24 February to 27 March 2025. An important meeting of the leaders and representatives of the legislative party was held on Friday presided over by Assembly speaker Rabindranath Mahato for the successful and smooth conduct of the budget session.

Many ministers and MLAs of the ruling party including Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren were present in this meeting.

The government wants that there should be a meaningful debate on the budget and concrete decisions should be taken for the development of the state.

This is the first budget session of the Hemant government after the big victory of the ruling coalition in the recently concluded assembly elections in Jharkhand. The government aims to make the budget such that it is dedicated to the overall development of Jharkhand and some special provisions should be made for every section.

This time the Jharkhand government has taken suggestions from the public and experts before making the budget.

And suggestions were taken from experts. On the instructions of finance minister Radhakrishna Kishore, the general public was asked for their needs and priorities under ‘Abua Budget’. The government claims that this budget has been made completely inclusive and development oriented, so that every section of the state can benefit.

MLAs of the main opposition party of the state, BJP, were absent in this important meeting. BJP has not yet announced its leader of the opposition, due to which there was no representation from the party in this meeting. Many speculations are being made in the political corridors about this distance of BJP.

While the government is ready to run this budget session smoothly, the opposition parties have made full preparations to surround the government.

BJP is making a strategy to attack the government especially regarding the amount of ‘Maiya Samman Yojana’. BJP leaders say that at the time of elections, the Mahagathbandhan government had promised that an assistance amount of Rs 2500 will be given in the account of every woman, but this scheme has not been implemented yet. The opposition is preparing to corner the government on this issue accusing it of breaking its promises.

In the budget session, there is a possibility of a heated debate not only on economic provisions but also on many other burning issues. The opposition parties can corner the government on issues like employment, farmers’ problems, law and order and corruption.

“Leader of oppn important in house”

Ranchi, February 21: “It is very important for the leader of the opposition to be in the house. The house functioning is affected by the absence of the leader of the opposition inside the house,” said assembly speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato.

He was answering the questions of the journalists. He said that both the leader of the house and the opposition have an important role inside the house. Both of them are two wheels of the vehicle. The speaker appealed to the main opposition party BJP through the media to consider this. It is known that till now the BJP has not chosen the leader of its legislative party.
