BJP leaders plan to disseminate awareness on amendments in tenancy laws at state level meet

Jamshedpur: State BJP has decided to celebrate Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya birth centenary to reach out to the tribals in villages and clear all doubts over proposed amendment to land tenancy ordinance.

The decision was taken at a session on the inaugural day of the two-day BJP state working committee meeting held at a hotel in Adityapur in Seraikela-Kharsawan.

Addressing media-persons, Chatra MP and party state general secretary Sunil Kumar Singh said that during the meeting of the state BJP core committee members with presidents of all 24 district units on the second session of the first day, plans were chalked out to celebrate Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya’s birth centenary and reach out to people in all the 26,000 polling booths across state informing about the vested interests of opposition parties over amendments to land tenancy ordinance. The idea is to spread greater awareness among tribals over benefits of amendment in land acts.

The decision assumes significance in view of the recent protest by Adivasis and tribals organizations allegedly planned and executed by principal opposition party of the state, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha in Kharsawan where Chief Minister Raghubar Das and party state president Laxman Gilua had gone to pay tributes to the martyrs of Kharsawan firing incident of 1948.

The BJP leaders reacted strongly to the tribal outfits’ protest plan against CM over the land laws amendment issue.
“We protest any form of violence. We will give them reply in a befitting manner if they resort to such protests,” said Singh.

Party spokesperson and former land revenue and reform principal secretary J B Tubid alleged that so-called tribal friendly opposition parties are spreading misinformation about the amendment to the land tenancy laws which have been passed by the state Cabinet and sent to the President for approval.

“It is really amazing how so called tribal parties are reacting. The amendment has been passed by the state Cabinet and also by the Tribal Advisory Council and it would actually help the tribal in getting their rights as far as compensation is concerned,” said Tubid.

Tubid also claimed that party is united when asked about several senior tribal leaders including Khunti MP KariaMunda and former CM ArjunMunda expressing doubts on the amendment.

“The party is united over the issue. It has been discussed at all platforms amongst party leaders and everyone has been taken into confidence. There is no question on roll back of the amendment proposal,” said Tubid.

Meanwhile, CM Raghubar Das, Laxman Gilua, Jamshedpur MP Vidyut Varanv Mahato, former CM Arjun Munda, Koderma MP Ravindra Rai, Rajmahal MLA Anant Ojha and Hatia MLA Navin Jaiswal attended the core committee meeting held in the morning. BJP national organization joint secretary Saudhan Singh from Chattisgarh was present during the meeting as a special invitee.
