Ghatshila, Oct 16: Friday promises to be an eventful day in the Ghatsila Assembly constituency, as candidates from the two major parties, BJP and JMM, prepare to file their nomination papers. Babulal Soren of the BJP and Somesh Soren of the JMM are set to formally enter the fray, turning the constituency into a hub of political activity.

Extensive arrangements have been made by both parties. The JMM has set up a large pandal at the Ghatsila Circus Ground, where Chief Minister Hemant Soren is expected to personally attend Somesh Soren’s nomination. On the BJP side, opposition leader Babulal Marandi and former Chief Minister Raghuvar Das will accompany Babulal Soren and his father Champai Soren as they file their papers.

“This nomination is not just a formality; it’s a test of support and confidence for our party in Ghatsila,” said a senior JMM leader. A BJP spokesperson added, “Victory here will reinforce the party’s presence and reflect the public’s faith in our leadership.”

Ghatsila Assembly has now emerged as a prestige battle for both parties. The BJP’s reputation, including that of former Chief Minister Champai Soren, is tied to Babulal Soren’s success, while JMM’s prestige, including that of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, hinges on retaining this sitting seat. The day is expected to draw a massive turnout of party workers and supporters, highlighting the constituency’s political significance.
