Chakulia, September 12: “Jharkhand is the land of heroes, the land for which many brave sons have sacrificed their lives for the country,” observed Chief Minister Hemant Soren while paying tribute on the 36th martyrdom day of Martyr Sabua Hansda. The Chief Minister was speaking at a meeting organized at Kerukocha Haat Maidan in Chakulia to pay tribute to Shahid Sabua Hansda and also for asset distribution.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren leading the homage ceremony on the occasion of the 36th Shahid Divas of martyr Sabua Hansda, highlighted Jharkhand’s legacy of heroes who had sacrificed their lives for the nation.

He praised the bravery of the state’s sons and the recognition of their sacrifices through the installation of martyr statues at various locations. He acknowledged the significant role played by Dishom Guru Shibu Soren in the struggle for a separate state of Jharkhand, which was eventually achieved in 2000.

Soren criticized the previous BJP-led government, stating that it had not contributed to the state’s development during its tenure. He accused the BJP of selling forest resources and minerals to capitalists, hindering the state’s progress. “The BJP played a leading hand in destroying Jharkhand instead of developing it.”

He highlighted the achievements of the coalition government in improving the state’s conditions, ensuring the accessibility of government schemes to all, and providing assistance to the poor by way of offering new clothes at affordable prices during festive seasons.

“Under the Birsa Green Village Scheme, The government has also undertaken initiatives to make villages environmentally friendly and economically self-sufficient as under the Birsa Harit Gram Yojna (Birsa Green Village Scheme).” However, the Chief Minister expressed concerns about the central government’s approach, which had deprived around 8 lakh poor people of access to the PMAY (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna) in Jharkhand. “However, the state government will extend the benefits of the Abua Housing Scheme to the poor and establish a rice mill.”
The event featured the distribution of assets worth Rs 757 crore to over 11 lakh beneficiaries.
Earlier, Chief Minister Hemant Soren was welcomed by local officials at the helipad. He proceeded to martyr Sabua Hansda’s memorial where he paid his homage to the brave soul.
The families of martyr Ganesh Hansda and Mangal Hansda were honoured at the event.
Tribal Welfare Minister Champai Soren, Health Minister Banna Gupta and other dignitaries also addressed the gathering.
Thousands of residents, including local leaders and officials, attended the event, which included tributes to other martyrs and recognition of their contributions to the nation.
