Jamshedpur, Nov. 20: The Entrepreneurship club of Loyola School organized a business fest, ‘Bizcom’ on 21st of November 2015. This event was a first kind with the aim of encouraging entrepreneurship. The event was part of the weeklong Global Entrepreneurship week celebration jointly with the young Indians (Yi-CII).
Students of Loyola School inaugurated the programme with a beautiful song and dance sequence.
The event was for school students, a competition where students had to compete on business ideas, logo designing etc. There were events such as Biz Debate, Biz Quiz, Corporate Style (ramp walk) etc. The chief guest for the event was Mr. Niraj Kant, MD of ISWP.
The welcome address was delivered by the President of the club, Aman Ahmed, while the vote of thanks was delivered by the moderator of the club, Mrs. Tandra Roy Ghatak. Altogether 12 schools participated in this event. Mr. Rakesh Surie, convener of INTAC Jharkhand State Chapter, distributed the prizes. The brain and the main inspiration behind the entire event was the coordinator of the club and the Rector of Loyola School, Father C.L. George, S.J.
The chief guest of the event Neeraj Kant, managing director, Indian Steel and Wire Products (ISWP), defined entrepreneurship as a combination of many qualities. He said that all entrepreneurs are business persons, but not all business persons are entrepreneurs. “An entrepreneur is a person who develops a new idea and takes the risk of setting up an enterprise to produce a product or service which satisfies customer needs.”
Mr. Vishal Agarwalla, chairman, Yi Jharkhand chapter, spoke about the 2015 Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), which is the largest celebration of entrepreneurship yet, with events in 160 countries. He mentioned that from November 16 to 22, roughly 10 million people are taking part in the eighth annual celebrations, recognizing and supporting entrepreneurs from around the world. This year’s Global Entrepreneurship Week features several themes meant to provide innovators the tools, resources and advice to launch new businesses.”
Tapas Sahu , vice-chairman, Yi Jharkhand chapter, mentioned, “Under Yuva, Yi works effectively for promoting leadership skills for its members through the learning programs and missions to companies of global excellence in India and abroad; the development and engagement of students through its 109 Chaupal platforms that has 10500 students.”
The events in ‘Bizcom’ 2015 were ‘Biz Quiz’, a business quiz spanning a spectrum of business related topics; ‘Biz Debate’, debate based on relevant topics and issues of the business world; ‘How Would You Sell?’, the advertising competition; ‘Design Your Idea’, to create a logo, tagline and a brand name for a business idea and ‘Corporate Style Theme Bureaucracy’, the ramp walk.
At the Biz Quiz – Rajendra Vidyalaya was declared the winners, Loyola School was first runner up while Motilal Nehru Public School ended as second runner up. In Biz Debate – Rajendra Vidyalaya was the winner, Sacred Heart Convent School the first runner Up and Loyola School was second runner up.
In How would you sell? – Vig English School was winners followed by St. Mary’s School and KPS Kadma. At Design your idea – JH Tarapore was winners followed by Vig English School and Loyola School.
In Corporate Style – Carmel Junior College was the winners while Sacred Heart Convent School and Loyola School was first and second runner-up.
Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), which falls between November 16 and 22 this year, is the world’s largest celebration of innovators and job creators who launch start-ups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare.
During one week every November, GEW inspires people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators.
