Gamharia, October 26: The first Birsa Munda All India Open FIDE Rapid and Blitz Rating Chess Competition was inaugurated on Saturday in Gamharia by the Saraikela Kharsawan District Chess Association. The event was jointly inaugurated by Adityapur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ravi Prakash, the chief guest, and NMC’s Additional Municipal Commissioner Parul Singh, the special guest.
The inauguration ceremony included the presence of entrepreneur RK Sinha, Arun Pathak, senior journalist Uttam Nath Pathak, Grandmaster Mitra Guha, Grandmaster Shaptashree Roy Choudhary, and Jharkhand’s only International Master Neeraj Kumar Mishra, along with other industrialists. The program commenced with the guests receiving bouquets and shawls in honor of their contributions to chess.
More than 300 participants from nine states were competing in this tournament, with about 140 rated players among them. International Arbiter Vishal Kumar Minj served as the chief judge, while FIDE Arbiter Anish Ansari operated the live board, broadcasting the games of players on the top 10 boards.
