Bike rider killed in road mishap at Adityapur, another injured at Tinplate

Jamshedpur, Nov. 5: A 25-year-old scooter rider rammed into a truck from behind at Tinplate Chowk under Golmuri police station area this morning. The youth was injured and his two-wheeler was damaged completely. OC, Golmuri police station Amis Hussein said the injured was taken to Tinplate Hospital, but was released after first-aid.

On the other hand a 28-year-old youth was killed on the spot as the bike he was riding he hit a stationary trailer on Tata-Kandra Road under Adityapur police station last night.

The victim was later identified as Vishwanath Chakraborty, a resident of Tank Road at Uliyan in Kadma. The victim who worked in a private company at Adityapur industrial area was returning home .

The police rushed the victim to MGM Medical College Hospital where the doctors on the emergency duty declared him as brought dead.

OC, Adityapur police station, Vijay Singh said that the driver and cleaner of the stationary trailer fled the spot as soon as the mishap took place.

The police have seized the trailer No NL-01K-4868 and brought it to the Adityapur police station. Notably, the stretch on the Tata-Kandra Road and Adityapur toll bridge crossing has turned very dangerous due to absence of any lamp-post.

A resident said that the rising cases of road mishaps on Tata-Kandra Road remains matter of great concern. The administration must work out on a mechanism for streamlining the traffic system. Heavy vehicles coming out of industrial units of Adityapur are the worst offenders. Instead of keeping left and then taking a U-turn after a kilometre or so, these trucks hurtle down the wrong side, facing oncoming traffic and risking the lives of hundreds on two or four-wheelers. A strict vigil must be kept on the movement.

An official said that the Tata-Kandra Road being a four-lane and linking to Seraikela and also Chandil, cars and heavy vehicles continues to ply on the road, causing the local residents to evade for commuting on the road after the evening.

During the past 10 days, over a dozen non-fatal mishaps took place after the sun-set. This apart two two-wheelers, including a scooter were stolen, something which is very rare in Adityapur.
