Jamshedpur: Bikash Biruli and Rahul Hembram scored four goals each as high-scoring matches made a comeback in the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports football tournament here on Tuesday with St Francis de Sales (SFS) School, Saraikela registering a thumping victory over Kerala Public School, Burmamines11-1 in a junior boys’ qualifier.
The one-sided encounter at the Tinplate Sports Complex Stadium eventually looked more like a battle of individual brilliance between teammates Rahul and Bikash.
Rahul opened the account 12 minutes into the game and it was followed by a Kamlesh Mahato goal.
Bikash soon joined the party by scoring back-to-back goals in the 25th and 29th minutes to give SFS a 4-0 lead at halftime. Rahul started the second half with a bang again scoring his second goal in the 41st minute after Sunaram Hembram scored the only consolation goal for Kerala Public School in the 31st minute.
Rahul’s teammate Sahil Bodra netted another one in in the 46th minute while Bikash Biruli once again scored back-to-back goals in the 47th and 49th minutes and he was later rewarded with player of the match prize. Rahul was, however, not to be left behind as he too scored back-to-back goals in the 54th and 56th minutes. Aryan Tapey rounded off with another goal to complete the rout.
In another Junior Boys qualifier at the same venue, Sakchi High School rode on player of the match Dhanu Murmu’s three goals to defeat St Mary’s Hindi High School 4-0. Dhanu scored in the 41st 44th and 50th minutes while teammate Mohammad Asif scored in the 47th minute. The only consolation for St Mary was that they managed to hold Sakchi to a goalless draw in the first half.
BPM +2 High School edged out Bal Gyan Peeth School 1-0 in another junior boys match. Pawan Kumar Prasad scored the solitary goal of the match in the 55th minute. Anish Mukhi was declared the player of the match.
In the Junior Boys qualifiers at Armoury Ground, Xavier School, Gamhariya downed Jusco School,Kadma 4-1 via tiebreaker after the match ended 1-1 at regulation time. Ashish Kumar had put Xavier ahead in the 18th minute but Shubham equalized for Jusco in the 30th minute. In the tiebreaker, Rahul Hembram, Ratan Mardi and Chandan Hembram scored for Xavier.
