Islampur (Nalanda), Oct 31: Jamshedpur West MLA and JD(U) star campaigner Saryu Roy expressed strong confidence that the NDA alliance will return to power in Bihar with a larger majority this time. Speaking at a press conference after visiting several constituencies over two days, Roy said, “People are genuinely impressed by the work of the Nitish Kumar government. Even those who do not support him admit that they have nothing negative to say about him.”

He described Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s image as “larger than life”, adding, “Among the people, he is seen as a statesman whose credibility and integrity are beyond question.”

Roy asserted that in Islampur, the NDA candidate Ruhel Ranjan’s victory is almost certain, saying that other independent candidates are being viewed negatively by voters. “As polling day approaches, such vote-splitting candidates will lose public support,” he added.

He emphasized that the vision of a prosperous Bihar rests on enhancing people’s purchasing power. “The newly released manifesto reflects the government’s scientific approach and commitment to strengthening the economy,” Roy noted.

“Elections are being fought under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, and it’s now certain that he will remain the Chief Minister. That’s why I believe NDA will secure an even stronger majority this time,” he said confidently.

Roy further predicted that in the first phase of polling, the NDA is likely to win 75-plus seats, and the number could increase further based on similar trends in other areas.

Government should form a special team to assess crop loss: Saryu Roy

Islampur (Nalanda), Oct 31: Jamshedpur West MLA and Janata Dal (United) star campaigner Saryu Roy has urged the government to form a special team to assess the extent of damage caused to paddy crops in various districts of Bihar. “Not only in Nalanda, but also in Bhojpur, Rohtas, and several other districts, paddy crops have suffered significant damage. The government must assess how much loss has occurred in each region,” Roy said.

He acknowledged that since the Model Code of Conduct is currently in effect, such an assessment may not happen immediately, but stressed that it should be conducted nonetheless. “Even if it has to be done under the new government, the assessment must happen and compensation should be given to the maximum extent possible,” he asserted.

Rai added that the rabi sowing season is also likely to be delayed due to intermittent rains. “This will lead to further losses. Based on available data, the government should ensure the supply of seeds, pesticides, and relief packages to affected farmers,” he said.

He emphasized that even with the election code in place, the existing government can still form a special assessment team. “By the time the new government takes office, the evaluation will be complete, and the farmers can then be compensated,” he added.
