Tejashwi bats for caste based survey in Jharkhand
Ranchi, February 12: Bihar Deputy CM and RJD senior leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday supported Hemant Soren’s stand on 1932 land survey policy for determining domicile status while raising pitch for a caste based survey in the state.
Addressing media at RJD state headquarters in Ranchi on Sunday, Tejashwi said that in regard to the 1932 Domicile based local policy, Chief Minister Hemant Soren is looking into everything. “Whatever decision has been taken by the cabinet regarding the local policy, we are also with it,” he added.
He further said that during the 2019 assembly elections, they contested the elections under the grand alliance and it was led by JMM supremo Shibu Soren.
“The alliance has to be further strengthened. In the coming time, the RJD’s programme will be held in all the districts of Jharkhand. The BJP and the RSS will not be allowed to become strong at any cost. I held a discussion with chief minister Jharkhand and we are in for fighting 2024 election in the form of an alliance,” said Yadav.
He also said he has urged the Jharkhand government to conduct a caste-based survey in the state, like it was being done in Bihar, as the exercise will help determine the “actual status of people”.
Tejashwi who earlier in the day addressed party workers at a Milan Samaroh programme in Ranchi as part of efforts to strengthen party base in Jharkhand said,
“I have urged him (Hemant Soren) to conduct a caste-based survey like in Bihar. The exercise will help determine actual status of people such as daily wagers, landless persons, sanitation workers and rickshaw pullers,” said Yadav.
“Until there is some scientific data available, welfare schemes cannot be implemented properly. The Jharkhand CM gave us assurance that he will look into the matter,” the RJD leader said.
Hitting out at the BJP, the senior RJD leader alleged that the saffron party “uses central agencies and money power” to topple governments formed by opposition parties.
“We saw what it (BJP) did in Maharashtra and what it attempted to do in Jharkhand,” Yadav said.
He said that Bihar has shown the way for other states to oust the BJP from power.
He claimed that Jharkhand was given nothing in the recently tabled Union Budget.
“The saffron party-run Centre has not allocated anything for Jharkhand because it did not get to form government in the state. It cannot tolerate a tribal chief minister ruling the state. Our effort is to strengthen RJD again in Jharkhand. Our aim is to not allow BJP and RSS to strengthen in the state,” said Yadav.
