Jamshedpur: A scam amounting to Rs Six lakh has been detected in the West Ghodabandha Panchayat in Golmuri-Jugsalai Block. The West Ghodabandha Panchayat in East Singhbhum is an urban Panchayat where every house has a toilet.
Yet, funds for building toilets worth Rs Six lakh has been siphoned off by the Mukhiya Vijay Kumar Hansda and Jal Sahaiya Punam Sinha as reported by Deputy Mukhiya Ravishankar Pandey and Kamal Club president Pankaj Kumar Mishra. They have jointly accused the Mukhiya and Jal Sahiya of siphoning off Rs Six lakh allocated for construction of toilets in an urban Panchayat like West Ghodabandha.
The two have built imaginary toilets, Pandey and Mishra stated. The matter came to light when the Deputy Mukhiya Ravishankar Pandey, through an RTI demanded from the district administration details of the funds sanctioned for construction of toilets in the Ghodabandha Gram Panchayat.
Reportedly, the people of Ghodabandha Panchayat have been complaining of several irregularities to the district administration but to no avail. As such, the Deputy Mukhiya along with all the ward members as also the members of Kamal Club will hand over their individual resignations to the Deputy Commissioner on December 19.
The president of Kamal Club, Pankaj Kumar Mishra stated that a notification to the SDO has been given thereby informing that if the District Administration does not take steps into the misuse of Rs 6 lakh fund for toilets within 48 hours of information, his organization will launch an indefinite period of agitation at Khadangajhar chowk.
