Bhalubasa Community Centre wins Open Volleyball Championship

Jamshedpur: Urban Services, CSR organised Inter Centre Open Volleyball Championship on 28th & 29th December 2018 at Sonari Community Centre. On the second day of the Championship, Tuiladungri Community Centre beat Kitadih Community Centre and Bhalubasa Community Centre beat Baridih Community Centre in semi-final and qualified for grand finale, which was won by Bhalubasa Community Centre by 2-0, where Sitaramdera beat Kitadih and achieve 3rd position in this championship.

Uma Shankar Chowdhury, Asst. Sub Inspector, Sonari Thana, graced the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest. He distributed prizes to the winners and the runners-up teams and encouraged all the players for hard work & continues practise for a bright future with sports.

The championship was ably organised and co-ordinated by the Sports Team of Urban Services under the able leadership of Jiren Xavier Topno, Head, Tribal Culture, Urban Services and Gurbari Hembram, Manager, Urban Services.

Nav Kant Jha, Chandra Sekhar Murmu, Birdhan Marandi, Bipul Kumar, Navin Chandra Das, Area Officers Urban Services and staffs of Sonari Community centre were present during the tournament.

Urban Services imparts regular training in various sporting disciplines including Volleyball across all of its twelve community centres. Such trainings help in identifying and nurturing latent sports talents and also provide constructive guidance to the youth. To inculcate a healthy spirit of competitiveness, the Urban Services unit organises inter-centre events that also helps the budding players to prepare for performance at state and national level competition.
