Jamshedpur, Feb 8: To inculcate a healthy spirit of competitiveness, the Urban Services unit of Tata Steel organized inter-centre events that also help the budding players to prepare for performance at state and national level competition.
In an endeavour to encourage young players, an Inter-Centre Cricket Tournament (U/16) was organised at Agrico Ground, Agrico on 7th and 8th February 2014. The tournament served as a platform for 12 teams competing and showcasing their potential.
Nearly 140 players participated in the tournament. B.N. Singh, Dy. Superitendent of Police � Law & Order, Jamshedpur graced the occasion as the Chief Guest for the Inauguration Ceremony on 7th and Debdoot Mohanty, Head, Rural Services, Tata Steel as the Chief Guest for the closing ceremony on 8th Feb. 2014. The guests lauded initiatives of Urban Services for welfare and development of community and especially youth. Sanjay, Head, Urban Services, Ravi Shanker Pandey, Sr. Manager, Basant Singh, Manager, Gurbari Hembram, Manager, Urban Services Tata Steel, all Officers, Area Officers and staff members were present during the function. The first semi final between Sonari and Kasidih was won by team Kasidih while the second match between Bhalubasa and Tuiladungri, team Bhalubasa won it.
The final was played between Bhalubasa and Kasidih were team Bhalubasa won the toss and elected to bat first scoring 89 runs in 10 overs. Chasing 90 runs team Kasidih was all out for 42 runs and lost the match by 48 runs.
Man of the Match was awarded to Lalit of Bhalubasa Community Centre while Vicky also of Bhalubasa Community Centre was awarded the Man of the tournament.
