Jamshedpur, May 10: Bengal’s Abhinansu Borthakur won the Men’s Singles title at the just concluded Tata Steel AITA Men’s National Ranking Tennis Tournament 2024, held at the synthetic courts of the JRD TATA Sports Complex.

Both the finalists, 3rd seeded Borthakur and Ritabrata Sarkar, seeded 2 in the draw, held their serves till 6-6 and forced the set to a tie breaker.

Here the younger Sarkar was trailing by 3-6, a point away from losing the set, where he suddenly conceded the match citing discomfort in the lower back.

Eventually Borthakur claimed the title and 20 valuable national ranking points.

The Men’s Doubles title was earlier claimed by the duo of Sarthak Suden (DL) & Ritabrata Sarkar as they surpassed Abhinansu Borthakur & Vilasier Khate (NL) in the finals by a straight 7-5,7-6(4).
