Bee farming initiated in district, 20 honeybee colonies distributed

Saraikela, Jan 23: The District Horticulture Department on Saturday distributed honeybee colonies to 20 persons during a programme organized at the Block Nursery in Seraikela on Saturday. Saraikela SDO Ram Krishna Kumar gave away 20 honeybee colonies each along with extractors and other complete sets to the recipients. The District Horticulture Department Officer Sanjay Kumar who presided the function gave tips on rearing honeybee colonies and the process of extraction of honey. Later, Sanjay Kumar told media persons that the colonies were given at 80 percent subsidy whereby each bee farmer would have to pay Rs 18,300 against a subsidy of Rs 73, 200.

The recipients who received 20 bee colonies each included Chhotulal Mahto (Nimdih), Lambodar Mahto (Chandil), Gulab Sardar (Saraikela), Sunil Chandra Mahto (Kukdu), Rampado Kumar (Kukdu), Arvind Sahu (Kharsawan), Rajkishore Sardar (Kuchai), Pawan Chandra Hansda (Gamharia), Rajesh Kumar Pradhan (Rajnagar), Kunal Kumar Sahdev (Ichagarh) and others.
