Jamshedpur, Jan. 25: Tata Steel organised the closing function of the 31st Road Safety Week 2020 (January 11-17, 2020), at Steelennium Hall today. Road Safety Week (RSW) is observed under the aegis of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Govt. of India every year. The National Safety Council supplements the Government�s initiative by promoting Road Safety campaigns across the country. Sudhansu Pathak, VP, Steel Manufacturing & Chairman Apex Road & Rail Safety Sub-committee (ARRSSC), Sanjiv Paul, VP Safety, Health & Sustainability, R Rabi Prasad, President, TWU, Dinkar Ananda, Chief, Spares & Services and Vijay Kumar Nirala, Chief, Safety graced the concluding programme.
The packed Steelennium Hall had senior officials, office bearers of TWU, employees & vendors who attended the event.
Amitabh Singh, Head, Safety Road & Rail welcomed the gathering and Nirala set the context of the programme, updated the audience with the information on Road Safety related activities undertaken throughout the year along with the targeted activities done during National Road Safety Week.
R Rabi Prasad appreciated the work done in the company to improve the present safety conditions especially on road and rail safety, detailing new initiatives.
PATH (Peoples Association for Theatre) team performed a nukkad natak (safety skit) highlighting the road safety issues and incidents occurred due to mobile phone usage while driving, fatigue at night, heavy vehicle safety, traffic rules and safety behaviour. Pathak gave away prizes to the departments which went extra mile in their initiatives to improve Road Safety, good samaritans and best transport vendors (both in-bound & out-bound).
Sanjiv Paul gave away prizes to good Samaritans, best drivers (both in-bound & out-bound), and best Divisions for demonstrating visible improvements on Road safety. He praised and congratulated the prize winners and the ARRSSC. He urged everyone to be conscious towards Safety issues to minimise the red risk or any potentially fatal incident. He emphasised on the mandate of penalising the safety violator to act as the real deterrent than the severity of the punishment.
