BBA and BCA students create ruckus over degree demand

Jamshedpur: Students of Jamshedpur Women�s College studying in BBA and BCA courses today created ruckus on the campus demanding professional degrees.

The students barged into the chamber of the principal and alleged that the college administration had cheated on them by not giving them BBA and BCA degrees. They said the college, despite having given them admission for BBA and BCA courses, was giving them B.Com degree which was both shocking and dismaying.

�The college administration had granted us admission in professional courses. But now we are being given normal commerce degree. This is cheating as the college cannot give us a different degree. Nowhere has it ever happened that students are given degrees other than expected to be given to them,� said one of the students.

The principal, asked about the cause of giving different degree, told the students she knew nothing about it. When the students got irked on the principal�s reply, the principal called the police to remove the agitating students from the campus. The students were taken to the Bistupur police station. They were later released.

A delegation of students met the DC Dr Amitabh Kaushal and complained to him. The DC said the case had been forwarded to the higher authorities concerned.

Importantly, there are around 500 BBA and BCA students in Jamshedpur Women�s College. The future of these students appears to be in the dark due to the dilly-dally attitude of the college administration.
