Jamshedpur, Sept 18: The central committee of Basti Vikas Samiti (BVS) in a meeting held today decided to launch a drive shortly against the use of plastic in the city. Chairing the meet BVS chief Khemlal Chaudhary observed, It is imperative that we take positive steps I the banning of plastic use. Plastic is a slow poising agent affecting the lives of humans as well as those of animals and birds. We should be able to emerge out of the deadly plastic zone.
The BVS also plans to launch movements on water conservation and tree plantation. Chaudhary said that water levels in wells, lakes and rivers were fast receding and soil fertility too was being hit. It was decided in the meeting that all BVS units would convene meetings and work out plans to launch the move on plastic ban, water conservation and tree plantation. The Sitaramdera committee will meet on September 21, Sakchi, Baridih and Golmuri units on September 22, Telco on September 24, Birsanagar on September 27 and Burmamines on September 29 to work out the strategies.
