Basti Vikas Samiti launches anti-polythene drive

Jamshedpur: Members of Basti Vikas Samiti launched the second phase of anti-plastic campaign in the city on Tuesday. A programme was organized at Government High School in Laxminagar, Telco, in this connection. The outfit president Khemlal Choudhary, school Principal Reeta Kumari and President Award winner teacher Aneeta Sharma were present on this occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Choudhary said there is urgent need to spread greater awareness among workers, farmers, traders, working women and daily workers on the health hazards of polythene. Children may prove an instrumental role in sending the message across such a varied cross section of people, said Choudhary.

Aneeta Sharma said plastic is �slow poison� and cause of cancer and many other fatal diseases. Using plastic in any form is dangerous for humanity, she said.
Children were administered pledge to boycott plastic in all its forms in daily life. Handbills were also distributed among the people.

Among those present on the occasion included Kamlesh Singh, Boltu Sarkar, Manoj Srivastava, Dinesh Singh, Ajay Singh, Jitendra Mishra, Krishna Yadav and Manoj Rai.
