Jamshedpur, April 5: Bhartiya Yugvasisth Brahmanand Sangh�s 5-day Basanti Durga Puja began at Jamshedpur Kalibari Ashram (Beldih) on Saturday, April 5. The puja will continue till April 9 before the immersion of the idol.
Durgotsav is celebrated twice every year in the months of Ashwin and Chaitra. The current one is the Chaitra Durga Puja.
“The samiti has been organising the puja for the last several years,” said member of the Sangh.
On April 5, Ashok Sasthi puja will be held followed by a cultural program in the evening.
On April 6, the occasion of Saptami will see Vihip Puja Prasasta while the day will start with navpatrika entrance of basanti durgadevi.
The evening will see several cultural events.
Ashtami (April 7) will witness Mahaashtami vihip Puja of Basanti durga devi, the same day will see Annapurna and Ashoka Astami puja also followed by colourful cultural program in the evening and a maha bhog in the afternoon.
On Navami (April 8), there will be a havan, Navami vihip puja followed by cultural program again. The day of Ramnavami.
The programme will culminate on Wednesday, April 9, followed by immersion of the idol of Goddess Durga.
“The samiti would like to invite all Jamshedpurians to be a part of the celebrations on this auspicious occasion,” a sangh member said.
