Banna Gupta refutes charges of Model Code violation

Jamshedpur, Nov 20: Congress candidate from Jamshedpur West Banna Gupta has written to East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Returning Officer Ravi Shankar Shukla demanding quashing of action taken against him under Section 127A of The Representation of the People Act, 1951. He said the charges leveled against him in the notice given to him by the district administration are incorrect ad he had not distributed pamphlets after the imposition of the Model Code of Conduct on 11th November last.

�The pamphlet mentioned in the notice is three to four months old. It is possible that some rival political party made it viral through Facebook or Whatsapp,� Gupta said in his reply.

Meanwhile, a meeting of Congress election steering committee for Jamshedpur West was held at Kadma on Wednesday. Party leaders discussed election strategy and various issues related to booth management. It was decided to rope in star campaigners including Priyanka Gandhi, Chhatisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh, Gulam Nabi Azad, Akhilesh Pratap Singh and Adhir Ranjan Choudhary.

Among others present on the occasion included Baldev Singh, Kamal Kishore Agrawal, Jammi Bhaskar, Ramashray Prasad, Raghunath Pandey, R Ravi Prasad, Parvinder Singh, KK Shukla, Amar Kumar Mishra and Arvind Pandey.
