Banna Gupta demands AIIMS in Jamshedpur, meets Mandavia

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, Dec 19: State Health Minister Banna Gupta has requested the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandavia to open AIIMS in Jamshedpur. The proposed AIIMS would be second in Jharkhand, the first being AIIMS Deoghar, he said.

Gupta said he raised the demand during a meeting with Mandavia at a conclave in UP recently. “I told the Union Minister there is only one AIIMS in the state which is at Deoghar. A large population in the state has to wait for long periods for better treatment. People of the state go to New Delhi and other states for better treatment,” said Gupta.

The Deoghar AIIMS was established at an expense of Rs 1100 crore in 2021. It is the 13th AIIMS in the state.
