Jamshedpur: Former MLA and senior BJP leader Saryu Roy today demanded an explanation from state agriculture minister Banna Gupta on government inaction in removing encroachment from land at Adityapur owned by the state Awas Board.
He said the Awas Board authorities had taken no steps to free the government land from encroachment by a builder who was constructing a multi storied apartment on the land in an illegal manner.
Ironically the minister concerned and the department authorities have overlooked the encroachment of Awas Board land. Illegal apartments are being built on the land for which AIADA has approved the building design.
Under the RTI application submitted by Ravindra Ghosh, it has been informed that the said land is owned by Bihar government and the building design cannot be passed, said Roy while seeking to rebuff the agriculture minister who held a public hearing in Adityapur on Awas Board and housing issues on Wednesday.
Roy alleged that Nirmal Kumar Mittal and Lalit Mittal were the builders who were constructing the apartment on the Awas Board land.
He said the executive officer of Adityapur Nagar Parishad had stopped the building work in August 2014. Despite the order, the building construction is on with the tacit support of the authorities concerned, he said.
The Awas Board minister should tell the people of the state as to what is relationship with the encroachers of Awas Board land. He should also explain whether he is trying to put pressure on the authorities concerned by holding the public hearing.
The minister is not paying attention to the fact that zero expenditure has been made against Rs 10 crore allotted under planning and development head by the state Housing Department, said Roy.
