Jamshedpur, May 22: Educationist, member of State Supervision Board and social activist Paras Nath Mishra met District Civil Surgeon Dr Jujhar Majhi and had a detailed discussion on the PC-PNDT (Pre Conception and Pre Natal Diagnostic Techniques) Act and about bolstering the awareness campaign on ‘Janani Ko Jeene Do.’
Paras Nath Mishra urged the Civil Surgeon to conduct awareness campaigns on the PC-PNDT Act in schools and colleges in East Singhbhum district so that people could learn about the evils of sex determination and foeticide and raise their voices against these ills while calling for a ban on these illegal practices.
Paras Nath Mishra informed that social group Subhas Yuva Manch was already on a campaign trail against foeticide and sex determination tests under the programme, ‘Save Girl -Save World.’
The educationist and social activist stated, “PCPNDT is a very strong law under which sex determination and foeticide are criminal offences and there are provisions for harsh punishment. There is a pronounced need for broadening the awareness campaign on PCPNDT Act among the people.”
Civil Surgeon Jujhar Majhi assured of initiating an awareness program in the district at the earliest to further strengthen the campaign being conducted by Paras Nath Mishra against foeticide and sex determination tests. (w-gsd)
