Jamshedpur, September 8: Bharat Aluminum Company Ltd (BALCO) bagged the coveted CII SHE (safety health and environment) Award in the large-scale manufacturing category (company with over 3,000 employees) in recognition of its excellent work in safety, health & environment, while the winner in the same category with 3000 or less than 3000 employees was Jamshedpur Continuous Annealing & Processing Co Pvt Ltd (JCAPCPL).
Glittering trophies were presented at the Safety Symposium & Exposition organized by CII Eastern Region here today.
ITC Limited, India Tobacco Division (Kidderpore) and Tata Sponge Iron Ltd finished 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up respectively in the large-scale manufacturing category with 3000 or less than 3000 employees.
In the services (large) category, Jamshedpur Utilities & Services Company Limited (JUSCO) was the victor, while Cognizant Technology Solutions India Pvt Ltd finished the first runner-up.
In small-scale manufacturing, Neogi Technologies and Research Pvt Ltd received a letter of appreciation,
�The CII Eastern Region SHE Awards seek to recognize excellence in several areas including safety, health & environment, – all of which contribute to enhance company�s competitiveness in the domestic and international market,� said Mr Sandeep Fuller, Chairman, Safety Taskforce, CII Eastern Region.
�The CII SHE Awards have been instituted to recognize extraordinary contribution in the areas of best environment & safety management practices, contribution towards sustainable development and efficient handling of occupational health and safety issues,� explained Mr Fuller.
