Bal Mela Jamshedpur: Saryu Roy emphasizes importance of physical and mental fitness in modern times

Jamshedpur, November 20: Saryu Roy stated that in today’s era, it was extremely important for children to be physically and mentally fit so that they could face upcoming challenges with determination. He said, “Bal Melas serve as a platform to educate children about the importance of maintaining their physical and mental well-being, while also informing them about their rights and responsibilities as individuals in society.”

At Bal Mela 2024, organized by the Swarnrekha Area Development Trust and Nature Foundation at the Children’s Park in Sidhgora, MLA Saryu Roy shared his thoughts on the importance of children’s fitness while stating “Due to the election code of conduct this year, only a single day event could be held. Children’s Day is celebrated on November 14, followed by International Children’s Day on November 20, that emphasize the significance of these celebrations in promoting children’s rights and well-being.”

Saryu Roy congratulated the organizers for a glorious event organized in a very short period of time. He said “The United Nations declared November 20 as World Children’s Day in 1954, and the declaration of the Rights of Children was issued on November 20, 1959. On the same day in 1989, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child. India signed it in 1992 and enacted the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act in 2005. The implementation of inclusive policies is very important for the overall development of Children.”

Trustee of Swarnrekha Vikas Trust, Ashok Goyal warmly welcomed the guests. Former Olympian Bhupinder Singh praised such events as inspiring and said “Athletes should consistently work hard and children should focus on practicing so that they can further enhance their skills as such opportunities will help them achieve their aims.”

Former Olympian NC Dev (89) said “When I represented India in 1959, the situation in the country was different. Today, as I look at young children, I recall my childhood.” He appealed to all children to be in constant practice.

Puravi Ghosh, the Chairperson of the Lions Club of Jamshedpur said “Education is essential for children, but at the same time their mental and physical development is also important as it can only happen by focusing on sports.”

The organizers of the recent Children’s Fair were congratulated for their efforts in making the event successful. The trustee of the Swarnrekha Area Development Trust, Ashutosh Roy, Sudhir Singh, Secretary of Saryu Roy, Rikendu Ranjan Keshari, Ashok Kumar, Rajesh Sinha, Aditya Mukherjee, Vineet, Sunny Singh, and others who played  significant roles in making this event successful. The senior sports coach, Shyam Kumar Sharma was the host of the event.
