Baharagora: Senior journalist Krishnendu Ghosh passes away

Jamshedpur: Senior journalist Krishnendu Ghosh passed away in the early hours of Monday while under treatment at Midnapur Medical College and Hospital. He was 54 years old and is survived by his wife and son. Krishnendu Ghosh was attached to several leading English, Hindi and Bengali newspapers and magazines.

Krishnendu was ill since the past three days. He was initially treated at Baharagora before being shifted to Jhargram from where he was taken to Midnapur Medical College and Hospital for better treatment. He breathed his last at 3:15 am on Monday while under treatment.

People from all walks of life started pouring in at his Baharagora residence as the message of his death spread. A poll of gloom settled over the Baharagora residents as also among the press fraternity.

It may be mentioned that late Krishnendu Ghosh�s elder brother and Nikhil Banga Sahitya Sammelan�s senior office bearer Jayanto Ghosh had died on August 3. Jayanto�s wife had predeceased him a few days earlier. Krishnendu�s death coming on the close heels of his brother�s and sister-in-law�s demise has shaken his entire family as also the people of Baharagora where they were loved and respected.

BJP national vice president and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das has condoled the death of senior journalist Krishnendu Ghosh who died while under treatment on Monday. Das said, �I am shocked and saddened by Krishnendu Ghosh�s demise. He was a very successful journalist and a very soft spoken and friendly person. His contribution as a regional journalist can never be forgotten. Ghosh Ji had equal adeptness in Hindi, English and Bengali journalism. He will always be missed. I extend my condolences to the bereaved family and pray to the Almighty to give them strength to bear the irreparable loss. We have no control over death. May God give peace to his soul.�
