Jamshedpur, Nov 23: Family Planning fortnight commenced today as an awareness campaign vehicle (Rath) was flagged off from the Khasmahal Sadar hospital by Civil Surgeon Dr RN Jha, ACMO Dr Sahir Paul and District Tuberculosis-cum-Leprosy Eradication Programme in-charge Dr AK Lal. The drive will make the citizens of the district aware about the necessity and benefits of family planning. A street corner play (Nukkad Natak) was performed at the Sadar Hospital premises to make people aware of the purpose of this family planning initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr RN Jha stated, “The rapid growth of population in the country is disconcerting and needs to be checked. This will ensure allround progress of the nation and less child pwer couple will ensure good education, nutrition, care and other basic needs of a child.” CMO Dr Sahir Paul stressed that a controlled population will ensure a curb on the death rate of mothers and children. Others present on the occasion included officials of the health department and staff members.
