Jamshedpur, March 1: District Transport Officer (DTO) Dinesh Ranjan and Traffic DSP Baban Singh with their team conducted an awareness drive at the Sakchi main roundabout checking out on the new dress code for auto drivers and display of documents on their vehicles as per directives that came into effect from March 1.
The awareness drive will continue for 15 days after which norm benders with be meted out legal punishment. The autorickshaw drivers are to wear blue shirts and trousers while bus drivers have to wear khaki. Their badges will have to be affixed to their uniforms.
The autorickshaw drivers are to mention on the windscreen their names, phone numbers, driving license numbers and assigned forms with their photographs and rate charts (as fixed by their union).
These measures have been taken by the District Transport and traffic Police authorities to curb the growing crime graph and to prevent auto drivers from exercising their whims. The dress code and rate charts along with other documents are to be adopted unequivocally by auto drivers. The norms had come into effect from March 1.
